![]() ![]() Because of its adaptability to live performances, the Stratocaster is a great choice for players looking for a guitar that can handle it all. The pickups of an Stratocaster are well-known for producing a wide range of sounds. The same reasons that led him to choose Stratocasters were that they could handle stage abuse and sounded great. It delivered the sound Townshend was looking for. Pete Townshend’s 1959 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins hollow body guitar was fed into an Edwards volume pedal and a Fender Bandmaster amplifier via an Edwards volume pedal. The guitar has been used by some of the world’s most famous musicians, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Pete Townshend. The Stratocaster was introduced in 1954 and has since been associated with rock ‘n’ roll. The guitar is packaged in two distinct cases: a regular hard-shell case and a stylized flight case. In the world of models, this was the only one with a non-cutaway option. Pete played the SG as a teenager in the late 1960s and it was intended to be exact. In 2000, Gibson Guitars Custom Shop produced a limited edition Pete Townshend SG model. As a guitarist, Townshend most likely plays a Fender Stratocaster, the Eric Clapton model equipped with Lace Sensors for better sustain, and a Fishman piezo-loaded bridge (with a volume control behind the treble side of the bridge). ![]()
